Catch Reports

March 2010

March started off very slowly due to the prolonged cold weather with ice still on the water during March.

Ide and roach made up the bulk of the catches with maggot feeder and pole fished maggot doing well.

The odd Carp started appearing in the 2nd half of March with the biggest caught at 10lb (also on maggot).

A few tench up to 2lb have also been appearing, as well as barbel on luncheon meat
August-September 2009

Catches of carp (mostly 5-7lb) picked up in september with the biggest carp caught at 17lb by Edinbugh angler Davy Baigrie on boilie.

Roach, perch and gudgeon are now making up the bulk of the catches, with good bags to be had with maggot on the pole, waggler or feeder. The odd bonus ide to 3lb also being caught although they can still be seen hitting the maggot as it hits the water.

June/July 2009
The carp fishing has now began to pick up now, with a few low doubles and high singles being caught with dog biscuit and bread on the surface, and the usual boilies, sweetcorn and pellet fished in the margins doing well.

People fishing for silver fish have been catching all over, with roach (up to 2lb) making up the bulk of the catches, along with a number of tench appearing. Bags of over 100 fish has been possible with ide to 3lb ,perch, rudd and the odd barbel to 2 1/2 lb.

Maggots on the waggler/pole as well as sweetcorn, pellets and luncheon meat have all been catching.

March/April 2009

Carp to 12lb have now been caught, including a 12lb ghostie.
The carp fishing has been slow at times due to the colder weather, but when the warmer weather came, carp were being caught off the surface on dog biscuit, and the usual boilie. Sweetcorn was also catching when it cooled down again.

Quite a few silver fish have been getting caught, including ide to 3lb, roach to 1lb, bream to 4lb, tench to 2lb and the odd barbel to 1lb, loads of gudgeon, especially when quieter, with most fish being caught on maggot - float or feeder. Don't ignore the upper layers as the fish do tend to follow the bait up after feeding for a while.
February 2009

Reservoir was frozen for the first 3 weeks of February.

9 carp over 3lb caught in the last week of the month (2 doubles at 10 & 11lb) to pop ups and sweetcorn.

Ide (to 2 1/2 lb), roach, perch and a few small carp caught on maggot . Water temp 5-6 Deg.C

September 2008

44 carp over 3lb in August - 10 doubles, biggest 13lb  ,  82 carp over 3lb caught in July - 15 doubles, biggest 14-06
 
Carp being caught on boilies, sweetcorn and luncheon meat and also surface fishing in the last few weeks.
 
Bream to 6 1/2 lb, ide 3lb, perch 2lb, roach 1 1/2 lb, barbel 4lb and chub 1lb have been caught recently
on maggot feeder, paste, pellet and worm.

May 2008

Carp 120 caught (over 3lb), including 10 doubles with the biggest being 13lb.
Roach To 1 1/2lb
Rudd To 1/2lb
Tench Many small tench with a few being caught around the 2lb mark.
Ide To 3lb
Chub To 1lb

December 2007

Good catches of roach and ide (To 2lb) at the start of the month from
both ends of the reservoir. As the weather got colder ,the fish were
being caught from the middle weed bed down to the dam wall. Along with
the usual gudgeon ,there were a few "goldfish" ,some small
tench,chub,perch and the occasional bream to 3lb,mostly caught on
maggot.
